Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA): Membership

PIAA Officials: PIAA membership as a lacrosse official is only required for PIAA lacrosse officials. If you are currently a PIAA lacrosse official, or will officiate youth games only, you do not have to apply for PIAA membership.

Below is a link to the PIAA application for registration for officials. This application must be filed in the PIAA Office at least ten (10) business days prior to the examination date to be eligible to take the official's examination. This application is available in Adobe PDF format and will open in a new browser window:

Click here to download the PIAA application.

When completing the application, do not designate any of the test locations listed. Instead, write the date, time and location you intend on taking the exam with the SPLOA. Our examination dates, times and locations are listed on the schedule page. The SPLOA's PIAA District 3 Officials Representative administers the examination for our PIAA-registered members so you don't have to travel to another location. Send the completed application with a check for $30.00 to the following address:

PENNSYLVANIA INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION, INC.
P. O. Box 2008
Mechanicsburg, PA 17055-0708

The PIAA will review your application and you will be notified by mail upon approval. PIAA application processing times vary, however generally it takes between 10-15 days to receive an approval letter from the PIAA. You will then have to study and pass the NFHS Boy's Lacrosse Examination. The SPLOA has a number of Exam Prep sessions and we have our PIAA officials respresentative on hand to administer the exam for each session.

After you have passed the NFHS Boy's Lacrosse Examination, you will receive a confirmation packet from the PIAA by mail. The confirmation packet you receive will contain your confirmation letter, an identification card, a PIAA patch, and a New Member Chapter Affiliation Form. You have fifteen (15) days in which to join an official's chapter after receiving your confirmation packet - so you must complete the New Member Chapter Affiliation Form soon after receiving the confirmation packet.

After completing the form, send it to the following address:

SPLOA
3200 W Canal Rd.
Dover, PA 17315
